Description

Ankylosaurus magniventris. The first of my new collection of Hell Creek studies I am doing for my novel.
You may note that the arrangement of the armor scutes is not that concluded by Kenneth Carpenter in "Redescription of Ankylosaurus magniventris Brown 1908 (Ankylosauridae) from the Upper Cretaceous of the Western Interior of North America." It is in fact based upon an opposing view from a paper by Tracy Ford (Ford, T. L., 2003, A new look at the armor of Ankylosaurus, just what did it look like?: In: The Mesozoic in Wyoming, Tate 2002, Casper College, p 48-67). This version makes more sense to me as an arrangement and is more in line with the arrangements seen in other ankylosaurs.
Additionally, the manus is based upon a soon-to-be-published paper by Phil Senter (Evidence for a sauropod-like metacarpal configuration in ankylosaurian dinosaurs), his follow up paper to the 2010 paper (Evidence for a sauropod-like metacarpal configuration in stegosaurian dinosaurs).
